Building Communities: ICM 2023 Highlights
A Look at Year Nine of a Better Way to Build
Our ninth year since the founding of ICM was a busy one. Among the projects ICM completed—all on time—were some large facilities that are game-changers for their respective communities. We also celebrated recognitions and milestones and came together for some fun along the way.
Here are a few highlights from 2023!
Completed Projects
In January, ICM was honored to participate in the ribbon-cutting for the new The Heindl Center for the Performing Arts at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, Miss. With a 1,200-seat auditorium, sound studios and choral/band rooms, the Center is a wonderful addition to NWCC's campus and community. The center has become a vibrant place for students and residents from the region to enjoy the arts—including a performance by Jay Leno this year.
We also completed construction of new softball facilities at Mississippi State University’s Nusz Park in March. This project kicked off in June 2022 with the demolition of the existing facilities. The 12,433-square-foot space includes a locker room, team meeting room, team lounge, outdoor bullpen and indoor batting cages. The updated, expanded facilities are a key tool for enabling softball players to excel and to help in recruiting.
Also in March, following a successful first worship service, ICM had the chance to join Pinelake Church - Oxford to celebrate their newly finished building with a ribbon-cutting. It has been very rewarding this year to see how this new space has impacted Pinelake's ministry in and around Oxford, Miss. ICM constructed the 60,000-square-foot facility as part of a new 12-acre construction project featuring stunning educational spaces for children, multiple different amphitheaters, gathering spaces for small groups, 20 to 30 educational classrooms, multiple worship spaces and outdoor spaces designed for ministry and community gatherings. The worship center at the heart of campus is complete with auditorium-style seating, new audiovisual enhancements and AV lighting. The completion of the facility provides Pinelake with its fifth church and an enhanced worship space for its Oxford congregation.
July saw the completion of the expansion and upgrading of the Manning Center at the University of Mississippi, an important facility for the football program’s operations, players’ use, and for recruiting. The training facility upgrade project consisted of two phases. The first phase was a new addition with a 10,710-square-foot weight room, hydrotherapy, training, sports meds, new offices for coaches, and team meeting rooms. The second phase was a renovation with upgrades such as a new locker room, players’ lounge, equipment room, plunge pools, and more. During construction, the football program was able to utilize the practice field, host summer camps and continue daily activities without disruption. We met the owner’s expectations and gave them space to operate. And during it all, the project had zero accidents.
In October, ICM celebrated the much-anticipated completion of Chick-fil-A on Northwest Mississippi Community College’s campus with a ribbon-cutting. We’re excited for NWMCC and the Senatobia community to have this wonderful new restaurant and gathering place to enjoy for years to come.
We also celebrated the completion of construction of the expansion of Bramlett Elementary School in Oxford, Miss., in October. This addition brought the school seven new classrooms, with three built to double as storm shelters. The expanded school is critical in keeping pace with the growing Oxford area, and ICM loves being a part of this aspect of the community. Working alongside the Oxford School District and Eley Guild Hardy Architects, ICM managed the construction of this 10,259-square-foot project without interfering with regular school functions.
Leaders Recognized
In 2023, our Division Operations Manager, Blane Sellers, was named to the 2023-2024 Oxford Eagle 20 Under 40 list. Each year, The Oxford Eagle recognizes the top 20 individuals in the Lafayette-Oxford Community who exemplify exceptional dedication and determination in both their personal and professional ventures. The award is reserved for young professionals under the age of 40 who not only exhibit a commitment to their work but actively contribute to the community and strive to grow as an individual. Blane’s recognition is a testament to his hard work and relentless pursuit of excellence.
Every year, the Associated Builders and Contractors alliance hosts a prestigious safety award program to recognize Mississippi members who actively promote safety awareness in their daily company operations. Entries in the award program undergo rigorous evaluation, considering the management team’s commitment to safety and the overall effectiveness of their safety initiatives. Katie Miles, Safety Director for ICM proudly accepted the Gold Chapter safety award on behalf of all ICM employees.
Developing Future Stars
ICM takes pride in providing our interns with valuable, hands-on work experience during our summer internships. At the end of each summer, our interns give a presentation detailing what their perception of ICM was coming into their internship, what they learned, what they would change about their experience and more. After this year’s presentations, we enjoyed a fun dinner together.
Off-Site Togetherness
At ICM, we work hard but we also love to have fun. Our crawfish boil with employees and their families in May was a great chance to do that. We also came together for our annual Thanksgiving lunch, sharing in our gratitude for being an important part of each community in which ICM builds the places and spaces that enhance business and life.
In 2024, we look forward to celebrating our 10th year in business!
