For the University of Mississippi Golf Course Addition and Renovation in Oxford., Miss., ICM cleared approximately 5 acres of wooded area to build a new six-hole short course that is playable from various tee locations. The short-course includes a new short game area and practice putting green.
This project was particularly challenging because a stream runs through the middle of the short course in two different directions, which meant we could not work with large equipment. In addition, we renovated the golf course's existing driving range to provide better drainage by upgrading the irrigation system. This required us to increase the size of the onsite pond used to irrigate the course by nearly one-third of its previous volume.
This project's success was primarily due to the team effort between the builder, designer, and owner.
